Loveday Lighting Limited has extensive experience delivering complex lighting schemes with ecological sensitivity. We understand the requirements to discharge planning conditions related to ecology and collaborate closely with ecologists to create compliant, environmentally conscious designs.

 

Our work follows best-practice guidelines, including the Institution of Lighting Professionals’ Guidance Note 08: Bats and Artificial Lighting in the UK and recommendations from organizations such as the Bat Conservation Trust, ensuring lighting solutions that protect wildlife while meeting project needs.

 

We designed a bespoke street lighting scheme for a residential development in Worcestershire, where four existing bat barns and highly sensitive bat species were present. Working closely with our client, Worcestershire County Council, and specialist ecologists, we proposed a red LED street lighting solution. This specific red LED technology has been carefully studied and developed to minimise impact on bats and local wildlife, while still providing safe, effective illumination for residents and road users. The lights maintain full visibility for drivers and pedestrians, comply with all relevant safety standards, and demonstrate how environmentally sensitive lighting can coexist with practical, everyday use.
